Health, thanksgiving, and elderberry extract

Despite my best preparations, rituals, and daily health regimens I’ve found myself with swollen lymph nodes. I expect the peak of a sickness will also strike at the 11th hour. Other than driving my body full of zinc, chicken soup from costco, and a new favorite – elderberry, I’m not quite sure there is more to do. A teacher of mine shared that sickness is yet another reminder for us to be conscious of our energetic frequency. We tend to channel frustration and the technical term, “bleach” several times a day. What if we instead chose to resonate a different feeling? There’s a lesson even among the greatest of sicknesses.

I for one, begged, cried, and cursed the terrible people out there that passed it to me — it couldn’t have been the night out until 3 am and waking up at 7 the next day, or going on a 3 mile run in 40 degree weather with only shorts and a jacket on. Nonetheless, while I’ve had my immediate list of counteract-ants, I chose to make the most of it and made a ginger tea for the first time.

The recipients simple. Cut up a bunch of finer, throw it into a pot of water, and let it boil. Strain it if you must, or add a hint of brown sugar. In all, here’s where I’d insert a metaphor about how the ginger drink is like life, and if only you keep letting it boil will you move toward success; but why don’t we leave that for another day. For now, I’ll be channeling satisfaction with fighting off a unidentified sickness, and rest.
