With February arriving in full freshness, the theme of renewal has come up a few times. With 21 days of exercises geared toward acknowledging abundance in life, I’ve been able to be closer to living brightly, fully, and readily.
This weekend, I’ll be attending a yoga retreat hosted by the nonprofit Healing Cultures and the theme is renewal. In preparation of this weekend, my teacher Toni Cupal has urged us to think of renewal in a new way.
It’s not just “what do we want to let go of, and what do we want to invite in”. Instead, the invitation offers a second layer. “What do we want to invite in, but in an old way” and “What do we want to let go of but in a new way”. There’s a cycle and a reciprocity involved with renewal.
It’s been a challenge to meditate and arrive on an answer. Something my friend Lit mentioned in a post drives this point home. He writes “There is nothing to seek. Every want, every desire for pleasure, peace, happiness, contentment, etc is only going to keep me trapped in the game of seeking because seeking something implies that I don’t have something”. As I continue my deep dive into preparing for the retreat, my plan is to live in the present as an answer arrives.
