My teachers Mukund and Toni have inspired me to think about the shifts in behaviors now that the world has quickly become more segmented. Not just physically, but also emotionally. My friends have expressed cautiousness towards feeling of “alone-ness” and “fear” which have quickly skyrocketed into a challenging struggle.
At work, our CEO Ryan motivated us to think of the opportunities and brought us back to the mission of serving entrepreneurs and helping them thrive with the capital and resources that they need. Truly, its times of struggle where character and values are put to the test.
The energies across my life have drawn a light toward shifting away from consuming and into creating. Consuming has manifested in my life in the form of watching content developed by other people. Consuming has been watching YouTube, Movies, and Television. The time has been worthwhile, but there’s a moment in time where you realize the efforts of your mind have taken a back seat to intellectual pursuits, critical thinking, and curiosity toward new studies.
On the other hand, creating does not necessarily need to come in the form of a physical nature. For example, I’ve noticed that people are coming together and forming communities, which is a feeling. During the corona virus period we’ve got to ask ourselves for who and what are we serving, and what impact we’ll leave on the world.
Large or small, creating could come in the form of drawing a picture or cooking a new meal — what we cannot do is merely let the time pass us by in this changing time. We need more fun, we need more inspiration, and we need more love. My friend Ariana wrote a vignette celebrating her father Harry’s 76th birthday. She channeled her energy toward creating something that will last. Undoubtedly, the action of taking action, brings about priceless results. Begin to think, observe, and notice those moments where you truly are creating. Step into that flow and harness your entire being toward manifesting what’s already within you, and into reality. It’s a sweet experience.
In this time of overwhelming fear and anxiety about the future, it’s time to focus on the present situation, asking ourselves “What’s true today” and “What’s within my influence and control”. With a clear focus on these two questions, take action and begin to create. Compassion isn’t only soft. It can be fierce and ruthless. Compassion for yourself can start with an unobstructed view of your current situation as the beginning of a transformation into unimaginable and unexpected beauty.
