Eyes toward the future while remaining in the present

It’s easy to disassociate and retreat away from what’s happening in the world. It could be due to the stress of death, anxiety from scarcity, or even the disruption of security because millions of Americans have found themselves without stable employment.

It’s during times like this where it’s critically important that we mindfully move toward associating, move toward community, and move toward creating. So quickly can we decide to relish in destruction, but what’s needed is the energy of compassion.

A teacher of mine explains “Compassion is both soft and fierce”. How will we use compassion (for ourselves, others, and nature) to navigate the current times. How will we use creation and the energy of building to serve and support each other in times of fear. Times where we are battling against the pressure of a collective of people trapped in fear?

There are three ways we can begin to start:

  1. Curiosity – Are we remaining curious about each other? Are we curious about learning a new fact or way of operating?
  2. Creation – Are we consuming the work of what other’s are producing or are we taking charge to build and develop ourselves?
  3. Movement – Are we taking time to remain present with our body? That which supports our emotional health and physical health.

Take a moment this week to dive into your current situation and acknowledge where you are at. By un-packaging our present situation into its simple parts, can we then begin to shift toward a future that we can define.
