In the U.S. many of us have this concept that feeling good is when we’re sitting on the coach with a cup of wine or pint of beer, and relaxing. Feeling good cannot happen when we’re at work, in front of the computer, and systematically entering into and out of meetings.
Now, what exactly is “feeling good” ?
Science literature will cite the firing on neurons over time in specific patterns. It can relate to the way our body is positioned at any given moment, and it can relate to the signals that are being sent from our stomach, eyes, nose, and ears.
I’d argue that feeling good isn’t just our physical sensations, but also our energetic association with words. Said differently, it’s also psychological.
In order of priority, we have:
- Physical
- Mental
- Emotional
- Energetic
Think about when you’ve sprained or twisted a muscle, and even when you’ve accidentally touched a hot pan. There is a considerably constant sensation that simply put, doesn’t feel good. The physical pain can eventually subside, and will take time to heal.
Yet, another type of feeling is through our mental faculties. We imagine, and repeat to ourselves ideas about our feelings, or current state and these can get stuck in a thought loop. For example, I feel bad or sad. These are emotions that can trap us into feelings of non-goodness. Take the example of a physical pain that has subsided. It’s entirely possible that we’re imagining the pain exists solely due to our mental mind.
Emotional feelings of “goodness” arise from the motion we have going on in our body, and mind. The more we’re moving toward the emotions we want to feel, the easier the momentum swings in our favor or consistently feeling good. These can include enthusiasm, curiosity, daring, musical, investigative, fearless, and more.
Lastly, and what is the most important, is the energetic feelings that we have going on. This is our broadcast, or when we’re tuned to the channel closest to our true nature. When the energetic feelings align with our place of “be-ing”, we’re launched into taking the best our emotions, mental, and physical faculties and purely living a conscious life. A life where we control our destinies, and how we feel at any given moment.
There is choice in how we react. I heard a great line yesterday at a talk given by Scout Bartlett, where rather than “Letting our emotions be our life, we can choose to live our life with emotions”.
