Stuff that gets in the way

I had the peculiar experience being in the same proximity of two people that are engaged in a romantic relationship. I find it absolutely beautiful, both intellectually, and emotionally to see two souls agree with one another to go on the same journey for the forseeable future.

In the case of my experience observing, and participating in the interactions, I found myself seeing that no matter what, and who we are with, there’s always “stuff” that gets in the way of our radiant, fully exposed selves. It might’ve been triggered by a misunderstanding, or a gap in communication. It could also be due in part to just a mood or a feeling that isn’t consistent with the way we’d like to be or see ourselves.

What do we do when stuff gets in the way?

We can hide

We can meditate

We can acknowledge the stuff and choose to look or move past it

We can stay in the present

When stuff comes up, it helps to take a breath, and hit pause. Put the circumstances on hold, and come back to the center. The center of love, admiration, peace, gratitude, and abundance. From that point of interaction, we can get through the stuff in the way.

Easier said than done. It starts with the memory, and a trigger of the memory for us to do this in our relationships. Next time you feel your temperature rising, your blood boiling, and your heart forcefully beating faster… remember that stuff always gets in the way, but your reaction and your acknowledgement can make all of the difference.
